What’s Going On?: The Script

Characters: 

- Katrina (main character, stalker sister)

- Madeline (newly found half-sister)

- Dad/he (Katrina and Madeline's dad)

- Cashier at LakeRidge Cafe

Settings:

- Rio Vista (city that Madeline and Dad live in)

- Madeline's house

- Lakeridge Cafe (the cafe that Madeline works at) 

Background Information:

- Katrina's dad left her a bit before her 3rd birthday. He started w hole new life with a new wife and new family. Shortly after her father's marriage with his new wife, they had a daughter, Madeline. Katrina was never aware of this half-sister she had until recently. In her desperate attempt to try and reconnect with her dad, Katrina finds out about Madeline and goes mad. She wants to know why her father left her for Madeline, and what it is that she was not capable of giving him that Madeline could. She becomes obsessed and begins to stalk Madeline, with the intention to eliminate her from her father's life and finally have the present and attentive father she always desired. 

 

                                                                    - Madeline's House -

                              *Scene opens inside of Madeline's room as alarm clock goes off*

*Camera switches to outside of Madeline's window and switches from inside to outside of Madeline's house throughout*

                                                        *Madeline turns off alarm clock*

*Voice over begins*

                                                                            Katrina

                           "The day's just started and the sun's already shining in my face."

            *Madeline gets up from bed and starts walking over to bathroom as camera follows her*

                                                                            Katrina

            "I have to go to the cafe today. It's a long shift, but I'll wait it out, it shouldn't be too bad. 

                                                        *Madeline starts brushing teeth*

                                                                            Katrina

"I wonder who will be there today. Around this time there's usually a girl from the local college doing homework with her headphones in. Apparently she's been working on her thesis that's due next week. What would college have been like if I didn't drop out Freshman year?"

                                                *Camera follows Madeline back into room*

                                                                            Katrina

                       "I probably wouldn't be stuck at a busy cafe so early on a Monday morning. "

                                                    *Camera goes to outside of window*

                                                *Katrina starts picking out what to wear*

                                                                            Katrina

"Shifts at the cafe are pretty tolerable. They're not exactly how I'd planned my life out to be, but the people are nice enough for me to almost enjoy it there."

    *Camera goes to wall of inside room fanning out to see the whole room and Madeline dressed*

                                                                            Katrina

"I think that the best part of the cafe is that everyone is so nice. But it can also be irritating when I can't just simply be rude." 

                                                *Madeline starts walking outside of room*

                                                                            Katrina

"Especially on the days where the last thing I want to do is hear about how your day's been or how well you've slept."

                                                *Jumps to shot in kitchen eating breakfast*

                                                                            Katrina

                                                        "Jax! I almost forgot about him. 

                             *Scene of Jax going to Madeline as she gets him ready for his walk*

                                           *Madeline walking Jax through neighborhood*

                                                                            Katrina

"Sometimes I wonder how Jax does it. He has no clue who his mom and dad are, and apart from the human family he has now, he genuinely has no one."

                                                            *Scene of family at park*

                                                                            Katrina

"How is it that Jax can miss so much and be so happy? Isn't he dying to know why his family left him? Why his dad abandoned him at such a young age?"

                        *Scene back at house as Madeline is getting ready to leave to go to work*

                                                                            Katrina

                                        "You know, it's just so weird how a family can look-"

                                    *Camera switches to angle of Madeline's family photo*

                                                                            Katrina

                            "-so perfect from the outside, yet have such dark secrets on the inside."

                                        *Camera switches back to Madeline's happy face*

                                                                            Katrina

                                                                        "It's pathetic."

                                *Scene jumps to Madeline in her car on her way to the cafe*

                                                                            Katrina

"Another day at the cafe. It's draining to be there for hours on end. If I didn't have a clear objective, I never would've stepped foot inside. The aroma makes me nauseous and the people have way too much energy for 8 am.

                                                                    - LakeRidge Cafe -

                                *Madeline arrives at LakeRidge Cafe and starts walking in*

                                                            *Bell dings as door opens*

                                                                            Katrina

                                "It's quite tiring. Working so hard and being so unappreciated."

                    *Madeline starts getting ready to start her shift and going to the barista station*

                                                                            Katrina

"Sitting here for hours on end makes me want to point a gun to my head. But I can't do that, it would be unfair. I deserve a chance at the life I was never fully given."

        *As Madeline starts getting ready for her shift, Katrina walks in with her work equipment*

    *Karina walks over to cashier and orders a drink. As she orders her drink she glances at Madeline*

                                                                            Katrina

"I come here everyday in hopes to learn more about you. So far all I know is that you hate expressos and love frappuccinos, your favorite color is purple, you won't stop posting about the numerous places you visit on social media, you are way too bright and joyful, and you love your dog as if he was your child."

                    *Katrina goes to sit down at a table and starts to take her computer out*

                                                                            Katrina

"Unfortunately for you, none of that has changed the fact that I hate you for taking him away from me. For outshining me and bringing him a joy that I could not. You see, for that sin, I will never forgive you. And there is only one way for me to get back all the time that you stole."

                                                *Madeline places coffee on Katrina's table*

                                                                        *Voiceover ends*

                                                                            Madeline

                                                    "Here you go! One cappuccino, right?"

                                                *Katrina looks up at Madeline and smiles*

                                                                            Katrina

                                                                    "Yeah. Thank you.."

                                            *Katrina looks down at Madeline's name tag*

                                                                            Katrina

                                                                          "Madeline."

                                                                            Madeline

"Yeah, of course. So, uhm, I've seen you here a lot lately. Do you go to the local college? You always seem like you're working on something."

                                                                            Katrina

    "Oh, no. I'm a graphic designer, actually. Just sort of design logos for business and stuff like that."

                                                                            Madeline

"Oh, cool! I'd love to hear about it sometime. Im in the middle of my shift right now, but maybe I could stop by later if that's alright with you?"

                                                                            Katrina

                                                                "Yeah, no, of course."

                                                                            Madeline

    "Great! I have to get back to work, but I'm sure I'll see your around. It was really nice meeting you..."

                                                        *Madeline stretches out her hand*

                                                        *Katrina shakes Madeline's hand*

                                                                            Katrina

                                                                            "Katrina."

                                                                            Madeline

                                    "Right. Well then, it was really nice to meet you, Katrina."

                                      *Madeline smiles at Katrina and Katrina smiles back*

                                                                    *Voice over starts*

                                                                            Katrina

                                            "It was really nice to officially meet you too,"

                                                                            *Pause*

                                                                            Katrina

                                                                            "Sister."
